Ensure Your Teams Do Not Feel Powerlessness
Powerlessness corrupts because if you don’t have the power then you can’t stand up for what you believe is right.
Why it matters: Powerlessness impacts your competence because it isolates you from others. In absence of a seat at the table, you will struggle to build judgment through exchange of ideas, know what is important, and know how to use a piece of information constructively.
How to recognize: You are in a powerless position if you cannot get things done. Or if you go to a meeting and you discover that some of the people had a meeting before the meeting and did not include you. They already decided what was going to come out of the meeting.
